Good News Reflection
Friday in the Octave of Easter
April 25, 2014
Today’s Readings:
Acts 4:1-12
Psalm 118:1-2, 4, 22-27a
John 21:1-14
In his name this man stands before you healed. (Acts 4:10)
Signed, Sealed and Delivered, I’m yours!
Christ lives in us. His grace can empower us to resist temptation and be set free from anything that hampers us from feeling his Spirit. Call out to him, just as the beggar called out to Peter and John for alms. Believe that Jesus is standing right in front of us, offering us not silver and gold but the riches of love and joy, patience and self-control. Tell ourselves that we belong to Christ and that he wants to set us free. Confess our insufficiency to him, and watch closely to see how he answers us. And then, just as the beggar did, praise him for his goodness to you!

Signed, Sealed and Delivered
BY Mary Lorelei Vicedo Aquino
Jesus SIGNED the deal when He became human
He knows the bitterness of this yet He accepted
He saw the glimpse of the pain and sufferings, yet he surrendered
He understood the intensity of this mission and he still offered His life
God’s promise was SEALED when Jesus endured the pain
Jesus carried the heaviness of our sin, even fell three times
Jesus underwent brutal torture and humiliation yet He withstood every bit of it
He suffered, died to end the damnation of our soul to sin
God’s promise was fully DELIVERED and proclaimed on Jesus’s resurrection
Through Him, we are no longer powerless or weak,
No longer unable to make our way in life.
We were delivered from hopelessness,
We could now rise out of poverty, resentment and despair
We now have freedom, choices, relief from want and pain—
We received so much more than we had asked for or,
Much more than we had imagined we would ever experience.
We are free from handicaps of bitterness and resentment.
The fears and anxieties and misgivings don’t have to bind us or paralyze us anymore.
We no longer have to feel powerless in the face of anger or addictions or jealousy
In the name of Jesus Christ, who was crucified,
whom God raised from the dead,
we are saved, healed from the impurities of our sin.
It was all signed, sealed and delivered by Jesus
The magnitude of God’s love is beyond measure and time
It is greater than any sin or problem that life poured upon us
It is greater than any sickness, trials and damnation of life
We embrace and we proclaim our renewed life with Jesus
We accept and proclaim the magnitude of God’s love upon us
We surrender to Your will our God, our Mighty Father
We signed, we sealed and delivered ourselves to you now and forever. Amen.
Then Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them: “Rulers and elders of the people! 9 If we are being called to account today for an act of kindness shown to a man who was lame and are being asked how he was healed, 10 then know this, you and all the people of Israel: It is by the name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified but whom God raised from the dead, that this man stands before you healed.
11 Jesus is
“‘the stone you builders rejected,
which has become the cornerstone.’[a]
12 Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to mankind by which we must be saved.”

PRAYER OF THE SOUL
“Jesus, in you alone we are saved. Help us to live a new life, unbound by our sins and weaknesses.Lord Jesus, you are the Resurrection and the Life. Increase our faith in the power of your resurrection and in the truth that you are truly alive! May we never doubt your life-giving word nor stray from your presence. Lord Jesus, you are the Resurrection and the Life. Increase our faith in the power of your resurrection and in the truth that you are truly alive! May we never doubt your life-giving word nor stray from your presence. Hand in hand we offer you everyone we are praying for, those who pray with us and each one of your creation. We sign, sealed and delivered ourselves to you with our whole heart, mind and soul, all for your glory. Let your will be done upon us all. We proclaim your majesty our God now and forever. Through the intercession of the Blessed Virgin Mary, all the Angels, and Saints. In your mighty name our Lord Jesus, our Savior and Divine mercy we pray.
Most Merciful Jesus, You Yourself have said that You desire mercy; so I bring into the abode of Your Most Compassionate Heart the souls in Purgatory, souls who are very dear to You, and yet, who must make retribution to Your justice. May the streams of Blood and Water which gushed forth from Your Heart put out the flames of Purgatory, that there, too, the power of Your mercy may be celebrated.
Eternal Father, turn Your merciful gaze upon the souls suffering in Purgatory, who are enfolded in the Most Compassionate Heart of Jesus. I beg You, by the sorrowful Passion of Jesus Your Son, and by all the bitterness with which His most sacred Soul was flooded: Manifest Your mercy to the souls who are under Your just scrutiny. Look upon them in no other way but only through the Wounds of Jesus, Your dearly beloved Son; for we firmly believe that there is no limit to Your goodness and compassion.
Amen.
Blessings and abundance be with us all today.
